About Me
Personal Info:
My name is Gayle. My birthday is February 26th. I'm a Pisces!
I currently live in Mayodan, NC, but grew up in Rural Retreat, VA.
My Family
My husband, Chris, a photographer and is working
on pursuing the profession full-time. Time to say bye-bye to his day-job! My children are
Kylar, age 6, Feisty, age 5, Miss Kitty, age unknown, and Mr Funny Bunny, age 6 months. In case you
haven't guessed, all my children have four legs.
Interests
Dollhouses (of course!) writing, reading,
crafts, gardening, and countless others!
Favorite Books
Anything written by Margaret Maron, Kathy Reichs, Dana Stabenow, Marcia Muller, JA Jance,
Sue Grafton, Dana Stabenow, Janet Evanovich, Dick Francis, JK Rowling, etc. I've read every book in every series by all of these authors, with
the exception of Dick Francis. I like strong
female main characters. I also love all of Marguerite Henry's and Walter Farley's books.
Basically, I like reading everything! Just wish I had more time to do it! I steal a
few minutes wherever I can to read a few pages of whatever book I'm in the middle of. Anyone
who knows me is well aware that I've had my nose in a book since I was a wee little girl. The
habit is just one I cannot seem to break (not that I'm willing to!) I am a "regular" at
the Mayodan Branch of the Rockingham County Public Library System. They've never failed me yet
when I've called with a list of book requests!
Favorite Music
I grew up listening to my older brother's heavy metal
music. I still appreciate this kind of music, but I tend to prefer pop and alternative. Anything from the
mid-to-late 80's and early 90's brings back memories of childhood and growing up. Country
music is cool, too, as is classical. I guess I like just about anything as long as it's not
modern rap.
Favorite Places
Home is my favorite place of all. Next to that is Cherry Grove,
SC. Rural Retreat, VA, my hometown, is right up there with Cherry Grove. Aside from those,
any place in the world would be a great place to me as long as I'm alive and well enough to
enjoy it!

Pet Peeves
1. Aggressive drivers (need I say more?)
2. Spam email that bombards my inbox
3. Drivers who don't "GO" when the light turns green
4. Paying taxes out of my paycheck and then paying taxes on everything I buy
5. People who put music on their websites (this screws up my computer, and I didn't want to
hear it anyway! Did they ever think I might already be listening to
something?)
6. Dog food bags that refuse to open when you pull the string...no matter which one you
pull, it jams up
Phobias
1. The sound of someone brushing teeth. I don't know why but this
causes me great distress.....I get terrible goosebumps and my scalp fairly crawls with
revulsion. People who know me think I'm weird because of this, among other reasons.
2. I can't stand heights. Last year my hubby and I visited Chimney Rock. We took the elevator to the top. Piece
of cake! Then we stood on top of the rock, which I was fine with until the Cessna flew
by....at eye level. Then we got the bright idea to take the "stairs", such as they were,
back down. Had I known I was going to have to practically crawl down the side of
a 2,280-foot rock I would have kept myself on the ground. My legs shook so hard on the way
down that they ached for days afterward. Not to mention, it took several hours for my heart
to stop pounding!
Most Unusual Thing I Do (or DON'T do!)
I don't watch TV! I haven't watched TV in two years. Most
people would be amazed at how much time not watching TV adds to your day. And I
still don't have enough hours in the day to do everything I want or need to do.
It's really a wonderful feeling of freedom not to have to be stationed in front of the TV set
at specific hours every day or every week to watch a show. I have nothing against TV or
what's on it, but at this point in my life I have a lot of other things to focus my attention
on (including my books!!! In case anyone cares, if I am ever in the hospital for any reason,
and you are in any position to accommodate, please bring me some books!!!)
